HMIME Chapter 18: Sir is Pregnant

“He said it himself, everyone heard it. This Lin Xiao’an used some weapon to pierce through Bai Lu Gongzi’s chest and pushed him into the sea. It’s truly hateful!”

Mei Fei described passionately, grief-stricken, as if this unfamiliar Bai Lu was her dearest loved one, as if she had personally witnessed Bai Lu’s demise on that cold rainy night.

“Your Majesty, imagine how desperate Bai Lu Gongzi must have been at the moment of death. Your Majesty must punish the evildoer severely to honor the spirit of Bai Lu Gongzi in heaven!”

Mei Fei spoke fervently, completely unaware that she had stepped into Chu Ya’s thunder, even dancing on the edge of the minefield.

Chu Ya’s complexion didn’t look good, and his gaze was extremely dark.

Perhaps Bai Lu was reminded of his tragic fate from Mei Fei’s words, and the feeling of carefreeness disappeared from him, replaced by a heavy sense of oppression.

He silently put down the clothes, hugged the orange cat into his arms, as if trying to draw a bit of warmth from this fluffy little creature.

Only at times like this did the two deeply realize once again that they had a shared, profound, and untouchable past, connecting them firmly together beyond the boundaries of identity and status.

After a long time, Chu Ya finally spoke, “Come, it’s getting late. It’s time to go back.”

Bai Lu walked past him with the cat in his arms, ignoring him, and stepped out of the Shangyi Pavilion.

Chu Ya sighed softly and followed him out.

Mei Fei was puzzled and uncertain, not understanding why Chu Ya completely ignored her plea. She subconsciously stood up, “Your Majesty!”

Chu Ya gave her a cold glance, “Shut up.”

He then looked at the broken clothes on the table, “Have someone make another one for you. This matter is over.”

Chu Ya quickly caught up with Bai Lu. He didn’t ask anyone to follow, walking side by side with Bai Lu alone, occasionally lowering his head to glance at the other’s expression.

Bai Lu just walked forward silently, looking straight ahead, his eyes hidden beneath the shadow of his bangs, unclear.

As they neared the White Deer Palace, Chu Ya suddenly asked, “Do you still resent me for shooting at you?”

Bai Lu didn’t speak, but his expression changed slightly, his lips tightly pursed, his head lowered, showing a stubborn look.

He was also a living, breathing person with flesh and blood. Even if he said he didn’t care on the surface, there was always some lingering discomfort in his heart. Just like Chu Ya couldn’t accept the betrayal of his lover, Bai Lu found it hard to bear seeing the person he had spent three years with aiming a gun at him.

If Bai Lu truly had no feelings for Chu Ya at all, he wouldn’t feel so distressed. He might… not completely lack love for Chu Ya.

But unfortunately, their love couldn’t transcend the deep enmity of the past generation.

Chu Ya continued, “If I told you that I never wanted to kill you from the beginning, would you believe me?”

Bai Lu smiled self-deprecatingly, “Come on, if you didn’t want to kill me, why would I be here?”

The tone inexplicably carried a sense of grievance, and Chu Ya knew that Bai Lu was truly resentful of him.

Chu Ya stopped in front of the White Deer Palace and said softly, “Actually, I wanted to tell you from the beginning, but I thought you might not believe me.”

“I knew my mother would force me to kill you, so I prepared a specially made tranquilizer gun. The sound of the shot and the impact of the bullet were all imitated very realistically. I wanted to create a scene of false death.”

“That day, I arranged for a lifeboat and my people under the ship. I was originally planning to pick you up, but now it seems that the gun was probably switched by my mother, and she also withdrew the people.”

Bai Lu widened his eyes slightly, opened his mouth as if he wanted to retort something, but all he could say in an unreasonable manner was, “It’s just your word against mine, who knows if you’re lying to me.”

Chu Ya gently smiled, “Yes, so I didn’t force you to believe me. I’m not saying this to exonerate myself. In fact, because I was blinded by anger and didn’t plan this scheme more rationally, resulting in flaws, leading to the failure of the plan, it’s my fault. I apologize to you.”

He gently placed his hand on Bai Lu’s shoulder, leaned down, and touched their foreheads together, whispering, “I’m sorry, A-bai.”

Bai Lu didn’t know what to say. If even the shot on the ship was fake, then Chu Ya was practically blameless in this story. It was him who was the villain, using and deceiving Chu Ya. So did he deserve this fate?

He turned his head awkwardly, “I understand…”

“Do you believe me?”

“…I’ll think about it.”

Bai Lu said he would think about it, but in the following days, he never mentioned the topic again.

However, Chu Ya still noticed some subtle changes—Bai Lu no longer had nightmares at night.

Chu Ya usually had a light sleep, and he always paid attention to Bai Lu’s condition when they slept together. Several times, Chu Ya noticed that Bai Lu would show a painful expression, frowning tightly, breathing rapidly, sometimes even muttering incomprehensible words in his sleep.

The shadow of the bullet piercing his body was deeply engraved in his heart, and every time the night was quiet, these terrible memories would turn into nightmares and sweep over him.

But ever since he confessed the truth to him that day, Chu Ya noticed that Bai Lu’s sleep had improved significantly, and the nightmares disappeared silently.

Chu Ya knew that he had begun to believe.

The fat orange cat that caused a big mess and still nonchalantly licked its paws was adopted by Bai Lu.

Bai Lu speculated that it might be a stray cat, because its owner couldn’t be found. But even if it had an owner, after causing such trouble, it’s doubtful anyone would dare to claim it.

Bai Lu gave it a very majestic and down-to-earth name, called “Sir.” Please note, it’s the dignified “Sir” (second tone), not the old man who moves stalls, shakes fans, and sits under the building to cool off.

Geng Qing expressed disdain, “Why name it that? It sounds so tacky.”

Bai Lu gave him a disdainful look, “What’s tacky about it? It’s popular where we come from, you ignorant ancient people.”

Geng Qing: “What does that have to do with anything? It’s nonsensical.”

A second-tier green-clothed guard who was on duty and enjoying the show interjected, “Speaking of names, our Captain Geng didn’t originally have this name. He changed it in the past two years, right? I remember it used to be called, called…”

Geng Qing kicked him in the butt, “Shut up and roll away!”

The second-tier guard rubbed his butt, aggrievedly rolling

away, muttering under his breath, “Really, not even allowed to tell the truth.”

Bai Lu didn’t care what Geng Qing’s original name was. He was currently fond of his cat. Although this cat was round and chubby, with a big face and sharp eyes, looking exactly like a sir, Bai Lu still liked it very much. After all, who wouldn’t love a cat?

Bai Lu was patting Sir all over when he suddenly froze, as if unable to believe what he saw. After confirming it multiple times, Bai Lu finally realized a earth-shattering fact.

Bai Lu earnestly said to Geng Qing, “Sir is pregnant.”
