HMIME Chapter 35: The Wolf Sect

Bai Lu: “!!!”

In this world, only mothers are good. A child with a mother is like a treasure. Husbands are completely unreliable, not even as good as a dog-tail grass.

Although Bai Lu felt that no matter what, hitting a woman was not right, it was completely okay for a woman to hit another woman, and he even wanted to applaud his own mother.

Bai Lin was truly a fierce woman who had raised her child independently for more than ten years. When she was gentle, she couldn’t open a bottle cap, but when she got angry, she could split open your skull.

She raised her hand, intending to slap Mei Fei’s surprised face a few more times. The maid Bi Tao finally reacted and hurriedly pushed her away, supporting Mei Fei and scolding Bai Lin, “What are you doing?! How can you hit someone in broad daylight like this?! Your Highness, are you okay?”

Mei Fei’s fair left cheek was swollen, combined with the tears that washed away her makeup and smudged lipstick, she looked particularly ridiculous.

Probably for the first time, the noble concubine was directly slapped on the face like this. At this moment, she was trembling with anger, her delicate eyebrows furrowed, glaring at Bai Lin as if she wanted to devour her alive.

Afraid that his mother would be at a disadvantage against two people, Bai Lu wanted to step forward to help.

Chu Ya held his hand, gently rubbing his sore head with his thumb, before turning to Mei Fei coldly, “Had enough? Go back to your palace immediately.”

Mei Fei was almost driven mad, her face flushed red with anger. However, she couldn’t lose control in front of His Majesty, so she could only glare at Bai Lin fiercely after bowing to Chu Ya, and then left with Bi Tao in frustration.

After her figure completely disappeared outside the gate, Bai Lin quickly walked to Bai Lu’s side, raised her hand, and lightly slapped his head, “Look at you, not listening to your elders and suffering the consequences. Your mother told you long ago to learn some self-defense skills, but you wouldn’t listen. Now, you’ve been beaten.”

Bai Lu was dissatisfied and muttered softly, “There were eight of them, and they had sticks. It’s normal that I couldn’t fight back…”

Bai Lin widened her almond-shaped eyes and raised her arm again, “You dare talk back again?!”

Chu Ya quickly protected Bai Lu, gently rubbing his sore head, and earnestly advised, “Auntie, don’t touch him anymore. His brain isn’t very bright to begin with, and getting hit more will only make him dumber.”

Bai Lin thought for a moment, “That makes sense.”

Bai Lu: “…”

So, is it okay to badmouth me in front of my face?

After a few more words, Chu Ya said, “Auntie rushed back in a hurry and must be tired. Go back and rest. I’ll give A-Bai his medicine.”

Bai Lin nodded and reminded Bai Lu again, “Listen to Chu Ya’s words, understand? Don’t always act rebellious. Bai Lu didn’t want to speak and remained silent, expressing his protest against his mother in a non-violent, uncooperative manner.

Bai Lin sighed in relief, “Look, our baby knows how to correct his mistakes. He’s not even talking anymore.”

Bai Lu: “…”

After a few more reminders, Bai Lin left the White Deer Palace. Chu Ya avoided the bruises on Bai Lu’s back and lifted him by the waist, carrying him to the inner bedchamber.

It wasn’t far away, just a few steps, but before Bai Lu could react, he was already placed on the big bed. Then, Chu Ya reached out to untie his waistband.

Bai Lu felt as if he were facing a great enemy. He grabbed Chu Ya’s arm and looked at him with widened eyes, “What are you doing?! I’m injured, and you’re still going to touch me?”

Chu Ya couldn’t help but smile wryly, “What are you thinking? I’m going to give you medicine.”

The old physician had already prepared the medicine and brought it over. Chu Ya rubbed his palms together to warm them up before pouring the medicine into his hands, signaling Bai Lu to lie down properly.

Bai Lu was embarrassed by the pain from just applying the medicine. He unexpectedly let out a low cry and then bit down on the pillow to stifle his groans, keeping them in his throat without making any further noise.

Chu Ya kindly advised, “If it hurts, just cry out. Don’t bear it.”

Bai Lu gritted his teeth and grumbled, “I don’t want to cry out. I just want to curse at you!”

Chu Ya couldn’t help but laugh helplessly. “Let me accompany you and talk. Do you know Lin Xiaoan’s true identity?”

Upon hearing this, Bai Lu suddenly became serious. “Right, I think he’s really an assassin. When I entered the palace, someone gave me a sachet. The poison was inside it, along with a note instructing me to find an opportunity to poison the emperor.”

Chu Ya wasn’t surprised. He just nodded and continued applying the medicine, “I understand. But why didn’t you say anything at the time?”

Bai Lu shrugged, “I just didn’t want to bother with you at the time. My ex-boyfriend’s life and death have nothing to do with me… Ouch… It hurts, damn it, be gentler!”

Chu Ya’s expression darkened slightly, and he asked in a cold voice, “And why are you willing to talk now?”

Bai Lu snorted coldly, “You think I want to? If I don’t protect you, my mom will skin me alive!”

The term “son-in-law” greatly pleased Chu Ya’s heart. He smiled and said, “Thank you for your protection. Lin Xiaoan is indeed an assassin. He belongs to an organization called the Wolf Sect.”

“The Wolf Sect? Sounds familiar.” Bai Lu thought for a moment. “Right, when that girl gave me the sachet, she mentioned something about the second master of the Wolf Sect, but I don’t remember clearly.”

“Yes, the Wolf Sect is a group of rebels that suddenly gathered a few years ago. Inside, there are mostly bandits, thieves, and scammers, ranging from cheating and stealing to robbery and murder, smuggling, and selling illegal salt, they do everything.”

“So, they’re terrorists?”

Chu Ya wiped his hands clean and turned to deal with the wounds on Bai Lu’s neck. “You’re right. The Wolf Sect is currently in a state of internal conflict. One faction is loyal to the head, ‘Xuan Ge,’ and the other follows the second master, ‘Chen Hu.’ The two factions seem friendly on the surface, but they’re only maintaining superficial peace. Chen hu probably wants to make some big moves to vie for the position of the head, so he sent Lin Xiaoan into the palace.”

Listening to this, Bai Lu suddenly became confused. “How do you know so much? Did you read the script?”

Chu Ya helplessly said, “There’s no such thing. It’s just that I have a mole in the Wolf Sect who provides me with information.”
